This privacy policy applies to the website glowven.app. Processing within the Glowven app is covered by the privacy notice linked in the app and in the app stores.

2. Overview

This website is purely informational. It does not set cookies, does not load analytics or tracking scripts and does not embed third-party content. We measure reach exclusively on our own server (section 4). Fonts, images and scripts are served exclusively from our own server. There are no contact forms, no user accounts and no newsletter.

3. Providing the website and server logs

When you open a page, our web server processes the data your browser transmits for technical reasons and records it in an access log:

  • IP address, truncated as it is written (IPv4 by the last block, IPv6 to the first 48 bits)
  • date and time of the request
  • requested page and HTTP method
  • status code and amount of data transferred
  • referrer URL, if your browser sends one
  • browser identifier (user agent)

Cookies, credentials and headers that could contain a full IP address (for example from proxies) are not logged.

  • Purpose: delivering the website, operational security, detecting attacks, analysing errors and anonymous audience statistics (section 4)
  • Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure, stable operation and in knowing the website’s reach)
  • Retention: 7 days, then automatically deleted
  • Hosting: server in the European Union, no transfer to third countries

The link /get/ redirects you to the matching app store or download section based on your device type and browser language. The server evaluates the headers of your request once for this. Nothing beyond the access log is stored.

4. Audience statistics

To learn how many people visit the website, where they come from and which pages they read, we analyse the access log with the software GoAccess on our own server. Nothing is stored or run in your browser for this, and no data is passed to third parties.

  • The country is derived from the truncated IP address using a database stored on our server.
  • To count repeat visits by the same person on one day only once, the statistics link truncated IP address, browser identifier and date. This link is deleted at the end of the respective calendar month.
  • After that, only aggregated figures remain, such as views per page, country or operating system, without IP addresses.
  • Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in knowing the website’s reach). You may object under Art. 21 GDPR.

5. Local storage in your browser

If you dismiss the notice about another language version, your browser stores the flag glowven.langHint.dismissed in local storage so the notice does not appear again. The flag contains no personal data and is not sent to us. You can delete it at any time via your browser’s site data settings.

  • Legal basis: Section 25(2) no. 2 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG), strictly necessary for a function you explicitly requested

The store links first lead to a redirect page on our server and from there to the services provided by Apple and Google. Opening the redirect page is logged like any other page view. No data is transferred to Apple or Google until you click a link. After the click, their privacy notices apply.

7. Contact by email

If you email us, we process your email address, the content of your message and the time it was sent in order to answer your request.

  • Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the request concerns a contract or steps prior to one, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding)
  • Retention: until the request has been fully handled and no statutory retention obligations remain

8. Sharing of data

We do not pass personal data from this website on to third parties and we do not sell it. Where a data centre operates the server on our behalf, it acts as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR and is bound by our instructions.

9. Your rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • access (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • objection to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21 GDPR)

To exercise them, contact hello@glowven.app. Because we store IP addresses only in truncated form, we are usually unable to attribute access log entries to a person (Art. 11 GDPR).

You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen), Postfach 20 04 44, 40102 Düsseldorf, Germany.

10. Information for California residents

This website does not collect personally identifiable information for marketing purposes, does not use tracking scripts, does not track visitors across other websites and does not share or sell personal data to third parties. Because there is no tracking, the website treats every visitor the same regardless of a “Do Not Track” browser signal.
